Pastor Bienvenido Mirando Abante is a remarkable Filipino politician and an esteemed pastor who has dedicated his life to both political service and the ministry of God. In 1975, he started the Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church and Ministries in Santa Ana, Manila. 

Born with a strong sense of purpose, Pastor Abante's entrance into the world of politics began when he became a councilor for Manila's 6th district from 1992 to 1995. His dedication to public service earned him recognition as the Outstanding Councilor of Manila in 1994. Following his councilor term, he continued his mission to uplift the lives of the urban poor as a commissioner of the Presidential Commission for Urban Poor in Manila from 1996 to 1998. His commitment to leadership led him to the position of special assistant to the national chairman of Lakas–NUCD in 2000, showcasing his ability to excel in various roles. 

Pastor Abante's journey has been marked by his unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of his constituents and upholding his religious values.

In 2004, Pastor Abante's political journey reached new heights when he won a seat in the House of Representatives. His tenure was marked by significant achievements, including serving as the chairman of the Committee on Public Information. Throughout his career, he championed essential issues such as health, education, social services, and infrastructure development for his district. Notably, Pastor Abante was a principal author of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill during the 14th Congress, highlighting his dedication to transparency and accountability in government.

Pastor Abante's political journey hasn't been without challenges. He faced tough election battles, including an unsuccessful defense of his seat in the 2010 election. Despite setbacks, he persisted, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to serving his constituents.

Beyond his political endeavors, Pastor Abante has been a prominent figure in religious circles, serving as the Pastor of Metropolitan Bible Baptist Ekklesia. His decision to combine his role as a pastor with his political career has been a topic of discussion for some, with critics accusing him of being power-hungry. However, Pastor Abante's actions are rooted in his belief that he can be effective in both realms, serving God and the people.

Pastor Abante's positions on various issues, such as LGBT rights and pornography, reflect his strong moral convictions. While he has made legislative proposals that have been met with criticism from the LGBT community, he maintains that his actions are in line with his religious beliefs. Despite these differences, he emphasizes that he does not discriminate against the LGBT community and counts supporters from various backgrounds.

Pastor Abante's dedication to his family is evident in his personal life. He married Marie Paz Toledo in 1977, and they have three children, one of whom, Priscilla Marie, followed in her father's footsteps by serving as a councilor of Manila's 6th district from 2013 to 2022. Another son, Benny Fog III, continued the family's commitment to public service as an incumbent councilor from the same district since 2022.
